Student Ministry

“Our goal on the UT campus is to reach students with the gospel, and then be the training ground that transforms student doctors who are Christians, into devoted Christ followers and lifelong disciple makers who are doctors.”

Doctor’s Forum - Wednesdays, 12:00 noon, G.E.B., rm A102. A hot catered lunch for $2 is served each week. This is our weekly large group meeting and students from every school at UT--Medical, Dental, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Graduate, and Allied Health are invited!  Over 30 different doctors will speak throughout the year to encourage and challenge you in your training.

Small Groups - Will you need some close friends to encourage and support you while at UT? Most definitely! These weekly small groups will do just that and more! If you are interested in finding out more about our small group opportunities, please contact Leah Raich:

Praise & Prayer - Meets weekly on Tuesday mornings at 7am in the G.E.B, A305. How do you get your day and week off to a great start? Be at this uplifting gathering of singing, devotional time, and prayer! Hot Dunkin' Donuts coffee, McDonald's Egg McMuffins, Chick-fil-a chicken biscuits, fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, and bagels with cream cheese will be served!

Campus Presentations - Once a semester we have a major speaker address a relevant topic for students in one of the main lecture rooms as an outreach ministry. Free Chick-fil-a lunches will be served!

Global Missions Conference - This amazing conference always occurs the first weekend in November in Louisville, KY. This is the largest medical missions conference in the country with around 3500 people attending and over 1200 students. There will be incredible speakers and tons of opportunities to check out missions organizations going around the world. We will travel up as a group and will provide transportation and housing.

UT Mission Trips - We take five teams each year to East Asia, Jordan, Albania, El Salvador and Nigeria. The cost of each trip varies, but for UT students, there are $1000 and $500 scholarships available. $1000 scholarships are for the teams going to East Asia, Jordan and Nigeria. $500 scholarships are for teams going to El Salvador and Albania. Fundraisers will be done to raise funds for students to help pay for the remaining expenses. Don't miss this life-changing opportunity to go on one of these trips--where you get to experience hands-on learning in your field from doctors who are on the team while being the hands and feet of Jesus to poor and underserved people who need help and hope!

Commissioning Service –  This is a special service for students graduating from UT and is held in May at the end of everyone's Spring semester during graduation week. The Commissioning Service is an annual service designed to encourage, challenge, and set aside for special service the graduating seniors from UT who have been involved in CMDA during their academic and clinical years.

We believe that being a Christian doctor isn’t a passage to privilege, but a certificate of service to the Lord and our fellow man. While healthcare is viewed by many today as a business rather than a profession, we believe the Lord calls men and women into the field of medicine and dentistry to have a ministry that will address the whole person, not just the physical needs. Jesus, the Great Physician, healed people physically, but He also spoke to and met their greatest need, which was forgiveness of their sin, new life, and spiritual restoration.

CMDA Connections – What does it mean to live as an authentic Christian doctor? How would one find out? Connections is an opportunity to get to know a Christian doctor in Memphis and see how he/she lives out his/her faith in their practice and life. If you’re interested in knowing more about this ministry please give your name, school, what year, email address, and phone and you will be contacted.
